Timing:

August 7 (8:00 am - 3:00 pm)

August 8 (8:30 am - 11:45 am)

Objective:

Participants will engage in activities and collaboration to gain a deep understanding of how to teach mathematics to enhance students’ number sense, develop students’ procedural fluency and conceptual understanding, and instill in your students a love for mathematics.

Goals:

  • Participants will gain a deep understanding of what number sense means.
  • Participants will gain a repertoire of number routines to implement in their classrooms (Eg, Pop Up, Subitizing, Number Paths, Number lines, Number Strings, Number talks and Hundreds Chart) to help students develop number sense.
  • Participants will gain understanding and unpack their own mathematical understanding of how to teach for procedural knowledge, conceptual understanding, and mastery.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of the structure and philosophy of the Math For Success teacher guidebooks by engaging in a lesson
  • Participants will gain confidence in their own ability to instruct math for the benefit of student learning and love of math.  We want our students to see the beauty and creativity in mathematics!

 

Format:

Day 1: Guided by Darlene Kusick

Day 2Grade level collaboration, working/teaching/engaging with one another with the intent to practice all that was learned during the course of Day 1 to fully understand how to deliver/instruct for number sense/conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mastery.

We prefer Credit Card or PayPal for payment. If you need alternate arrangements, please contact Darlene (use the form below).

Cancellation Policy:

If you are unable to attend or send someone else, we will refund your full registration if you notify us by July 15. If you notify us between July 16 to July 31, we will refund your registration less a $75 fee. No refunds will be given after July 31.

Please Note:

  • GST will be ADDED at checkout
  • Price does NOT include accommodation, resources, beverages or food.

Maximum Participants:

Due to the hands-on nature of the workshop, the maximum participants will be 40-45. There must be a minimum of 10 participants registered by June 30th or the workshop will be canceled.
