Are You Looking to Enhance Your Mathematical Knowledge and Instruction?
What is your Teacher Professional Growth Plan for the 2017-2018 School Year?
I would love to help you grow in your mathematical understanding and learning to benefit you and your students.
How could we do this? I think there are many options available to put in your 4 ½ to 5 hours of learning:
- You could ask your administration if on-line live webinars and video clubs would count
- We could do face to face 1 to 1, small group and/or large group mentoring/workshops
How would/could we structure this?
- We could do after school time over a few days
- We could do two half days on a Saturday
- We could do a full day on a Saturday
Cost for this would be dependent how many I would be working with, if I have to travel and/or stay in a hotel.
If teachers from a distance express interest I can look at hosting a Fall Potpourri in Olds here. And yes you may have to travel but I can charge less for registration and then you don’t have my travel and accommodation.
Please let me know if there is interest by emailing me and if enough express interest I will most definitely begin planning. Or if you are close we can look at 1 to 1. You can contact me through email or give me a call at 403-556-3678. I would love to hear from you with how I can help your professional learning!
P.S I was told by a teacher in the Northern part of the province that she could have applied for a Partnership Learning Opportunity last year. Apparently, this partnership would have provided her the time and money to do this. Perhaps this is something to look into with your district.
SOMETHING ELSE TO PONDER:
Perhaps the Minister of Education needs to hear from teachers that the bursaries he is offering for university courses could be expanded into individual teachers and/or schools to receive a bursary to pursue learning from other math experts, as there are many. I have my Masters and knowledge is never wasted but professional learning comes in a variety of forms. One of my colleagues emailed the Minister's assistant and I plan to send an email as well. If you feel strongly about this then take action. He is only providing this money for the 2017-2018 school year. Here is the email to the Minister’s assistant so you do not need to go searching for it: firstname.lastname@example.org
